I would like to change the color of a validation warning on a control. How can I do this? Assuming we might need some CSS?

There is a Designer Studio setting that can allow you to customize form validations, including changing its color. To find, navigate to System> Settings> Designer Studio Setting and type in validation. See the below screenshots:
