Hello!
Before upgrading, please make sure you take a backup of your database. In addition, please review our Upgrade Validator Accelerator Project. This will give you an insight into Breaking Changes that may affect your environment.

The biggest and most important change made in v9 was the Project structure. In v9, Projects are isolated and they no longer function like they did in v8. This means when you upgrade you need to use the “Convert Legacy Project” action on your v8 projects or create a new v9 project then move your v8 project/elements into that project. This is the most crucial part of the upgrade process.

In addition, for software requirements the biggest change would the .NET version. You need to install the proper .NET version for the right v9 version.

Lastly, here is our general upgrade Documentation that goes through each section of the installer. Please read through these Documentations thoroughly. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
