what are the steps to migrate scheduled jobs from v8 to v9 seamlessly?

Hi,

I'm planning to migrate from v8 to v9, and I want to understand how this will impact the scheduled jobs created in v8. Will they get deleted or stored differently after the upgrade?

Can someone explain?

  • Hi Akira,

In v8, scheduled jobs were configured at the system level and were visible across the platform. However, in v9, scheduled jobs are now project-level. They can be created within a specific project and are visible within that project and at the system-level as attached to the project.

    Here’s what happens during migration:

    1. Using Dependency in v8:
      • If your scheduled flow in v8 is added as a dependency to a project, it will automatically appear within that respective project after the upgrade to v9.
    2. Direct Database Usage in v9 Installer:
      • If you directly point the v8 database to the v9 installer, the existing scheduled jobs will appear in the 'Jobs and Events' folder.
      • You’ll need to manually tag these jobs to the required project. To do this:
        • Right-click on the scheduled job.
        • Select 'Attach to Project' to link it to the respective project.

  • Hi, I have a few more questions regarding scheduled jobs in v9:

    1. Is it recommended to place scheduled jobs at the system level?
    2. Can we reference flows from a project in system-level scheduled jobs?
    3. If that isn’t possible, would we need to duplicate all the components of a project’s flow to use it at the system level?
  • Hi there,

In v9, scheduled jobs are no longer system-level; they must be project-level.

    1. Even if you create a scheduled job at the system level, you’ll need to tag it to a project to attach a scheduled flow.
    2. Scheduled jobs can only reference flows within the same project. This means the scheduled job must be linked to the project containing the desired flow.
