Migrating Database to another Server

We need to move a Decisions database from one server to another today. What are the things we need to consider ahead of this move?

Hi there,
After migrating your database, youll need to shut down the Service Host Manager and update the DB connection string by running the installer, editing the settings, and changing it to the new string.
Note that youll probably need a new license key after the migration. Here is the documentation on it, if you need it: https://documentation.decisions.com/docs/licensing-a-server
Another thing to consider, (if you have a need for it) copying over Custom Modules (Decisions/Decisions Services Manager/Custom Modules) and File Storage Directories (Decisions/FileStorage) to retain data on the new server.

Hi, before migrating the instance from one server to another server, please take a backup of the following from the existing server:
- The database Keys.dat and databaseid.txt files are found at C:\Program Files\Decisions\Decisions Services Manager\Instances\Control.
- File Storage folder found at C:\Program Files\Decisions.
- Settings.xml file found at C:\Program Files\Decisions\Decisions Services Manager.
The DB backup will be used to restore, put all the others in their appropriate location, and replace the files generated by the fresh installation.
Howdy, Stranger!
