We currently have Decisions 5.6 in prod and v5 and v6 in non prod running on SQL Server 2012. Our DBAs want to upgrade our non prod DBs to SQL Server 2017 ( and set it up running in 2012 compatibility mode). Would this be ok to do?

There should be no problem with updating to SQL Server 2017 and running as 2012. Per our Installation Requirements Document, using SQL Server 2012 or newer will work.
