• Hi, I was working on an assignment and I found on step run category.

Someone had explained to me what the private flow did but I was curious what shared does?

What exactly is shared with this flow? thank you

    Hi Frank,

The SharedFlow behavior is actually very similar to the Private Flow behavior in that it pertains to an Assignment and its respective Assignment Dates (Start, Warn, Late, Escalate, Expiration). In other words, upon reaching one of those dates, the SharedFlow will run.

They differ in that where Private Flows can take in data from the Parent Flow, a Shared Flow cannot.

Instead, the Shared Flow is "shared" in that it can be used by more than just the Assignment it is defined on; the Flow can be used in other Assignments or throughout the Decisions environment.

After one is set on an Assigned Form, and SharedFlow is selected from the Step Start Flow Type dropdown, a Flow can be defined via the PICK OR CREATE FLOW TO RUN button.

The example Ive provided in this response simply displays a Popup Notification upon reaching the determined Warn time.

Running the Parent Flow will in turn run the SharedFlow at the designated time. Note, that from the Designer Project of the Parent Flow, the SharedFlow can be accessed without having to navigate back to the Flow Designer.

Hope this helps clear things up, you can find out more about Assignment configuration in our Assignment Settings and Configuration doc.
