Question on Rule Collection/Collection Filter step

Hello All,
I noticed that there are two steps that have a similar name, the “Collection Filter” and the “Rule Collection Filter”, steps. Is there any documentation on using the Collection Filter/ Rule Collection Filter steps? Also is there any major differences between the two steps?

Hi Samuel,
The “Collection Filter” and “Rule Collection Filter” step both functions as a way to filter out specific values from a list in Decisions. The main difference between the two is how they go about filtering a list.
For the “Rule Collection Filter” step, A rule must be defined. If the rule evaluates as true, then the selected item will be included in the filtered list.
For the “Collection Filter” step, it uses a flow to determine whether an item from the list will be included after filtering. The filtered flow can be edited on the step’s properties panel, where we can specify the list to be used by the flow. We would add logic, such as using rule steps in a flow, to determine whether the item will be included in the filtered list. Below is an example of a what a collection filter flow would can look like.

On our documentation site, we also have an example on using the Rule Collection Filter step. Below is a link to the page:
