Time zones in Decisions

Time zones in Decisions

Comments

  • Hi,

One of our development teams has asked about the possibility of switching an application’s server’s timezone from UTC to CET (2 hours difference). This is because the scheduled jobs are running in UTC and scheduled for UTC and there doesn’t appear to be a way to consistently schedule them for CET and have them run the correct time in CET.

As I understand it, the primary problem with changing an application’s timezone is that if the database server and the application server timezones are not the same, we could see inconsistent date/time recording in the database. Some dates could be in CET (when they’re written by the application server), others could be in CET (when they’re written by the database engine itself), and there’s no way for Decision to reliably know the difference.

If we keep the application and database server in-sync, could we safely put the workflow server’s timezone in CET?

    Regards,

Time zones in Decisions are derived from the Time Zones recorded in Host Server OS. So, if you change the time zone of the host server to CET there should not be an issue. One thing to consider, if you already have flows which shift dates and times between time zones it would be better to test and if necessary modify according to the new time zone.

In addition, I dont know if you need but Decisions lets you turn on date/time translation with a simple setting. Turning on translation lets users see all date/time values in their local time zones instead of the timezone of the Decisions server.
