Primary logs in a month/day/year/time format

  • Hello, Decisions.

Recently my team has noticed that our primary logs are showing up in a different format. Instead of the logs showing up as "primary.log" Im seeing logs that show up as 32720211059AM. Can the team let me know what is wrong with our logs?

  • Hello,

When logs are saved in this format. It typically means that when Service Host Manager tried to write to the primary.log file but it was locked. So we write a datetimelog file. We typically see this behavior when users use a log ingestion tool like Splunk. You can figure out what process is holding a lock on a file with the windows Resource Monitor: https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/resource-monitor-find-process-locked-file-windows-7/
