Best way to have backup when import and export

When we export a large project and import to another environment, sometimes there are validation messages when we import. I wanted to know how can we have a backup if we want to go back to previous version of the project on the target machine.

For backing up a project we can export the project from development Instance and export the project from the target environment to have a backup in case you like to roll back to the previous version. Once the back up is exported you can import the dev version of the project
