Is there a way to organize types of groups? I want to create 2 different group types but am not sure if I am able to.

With this setup, you could have a Parent Group linked to the child group. Anywhere you needed all the members in the Parent Group and Child Group, you would input the Parent group as a normal group. All the members of the Parent Group and the Linked Child Groups will be used.

Last thing, is there a way to organize the groups in the folder tree rather than having one very long list when selecting “groups”?

You can create custom reports of groups if you use the group datasource in the report designer.
