About migrating DE 9.2 from VM to GCP GKE

Dear Decisions team,

Our current PROD environment is running DE version 9.2 installed on virtual machines (VMs) in a clustering setup. We are planning to migrate this clustered environment to a containerized deployment on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

We would appreciate it if you could provide insights and guidance on the following points:

  1. Pros and cons of migrating from VM-based clustering to a containerized clustering deployment on GKE.
  2. Technical and architectural considerations for clustering in a Kubernetes-based environment.
  3. Support and licensing implications when migrating to containers on GCP.
  4. Recommended best practices or migration strategies, especially for clustering scenarios.
  5. Limitations, compatibility issues, or known challenges with running clustered DE instances in containers on GKE.
  6. High availability (HA), load balancing, and state management considerations for clustered DE in GKE.
  7. Monitoring, logging, backup, and scaling recommendations for containerized clustered deployments.
  8. Any official documentation, reference architecture, or case studies related to running DE in containers with clustering on GCP.

We look forward to your expert advice and recommendations to help us proceed with this migration confidently.

Thanks

Hưng
