Database Edition when upgrading from Version 7 to 8
Hello
I'm looking to upgrade my environment from Version 7.14 to 8.22.
I need to upgrade my database to a newer version
Currently using SQL Server 2014 Enterprise edition on my Production environment
I'm planning on upgrading to 2022 but was wondering if Standard edition would be okay for Production?

Hello!
Version 8.22 requires SQL Server 2017 or newer.
When choosing between Standard or Enterprise, you'll want to consider your performance needs for each environment.
Both are supported by Decisions.

We also are looking to upgrade our OS to Windows Server 2022.
What would the be the best way to handle switching to a new OS as well as a new Database?
I'm thinking migrating to new instances will be a smoother option.
I would love some more advice on the migration process.

Absolutely!
Migrating to new OS and database instances is a best practice for major upgrades.
Here's a recommended path for your scenario:
1. Back up your current Decisions installation, database, file storage, and encryption (keys.dat file)
2. Set up your new Windows Server and SQL Server environments, ensure the requirements are met for your current version on the Windows Server environment
3. Restore the database backup to the new SQL Server
4. On the new Application Server(New Windows Server), install your current version of Decisions against the restored database.
5. Test the environment thoroughly to ensure there are no issues
6. Confirm installation requirements are met for the version you're upgrading before upgrading
7. Upgrade environment to new version
8. Following a successful installation, perform a smoke test to ensure all flows, permissions, and dependencies are intact.
