Creating Flow to be Called via API

We have a business requirement to create a flow (with subflows) to be called via API from other applications. We've never done this before and wanted to know if there are any guidelines we need to follow regarding performance, scalability and security?

All flows have a Service Setting that allows the ability to call them as REST APIs. See the below Documentation for more information regarding this. On the Integration Details page, you will need to provide user credentials to allow the API flow run. Typically, we see customers use Named Sessions to run these API flows to ensure user creds aren't displayed in URL
