Database copy from Live to Dev

Hi,

Our live and dev systems have come out of sync and we would like to bring these back in line.
Would it be possible to take a copy of our live database and restore this to our dev server? Is this supported?
If so, how would we re-register with the correct dev license after the database migration?

Are there any instructions on this process? I remember you said that we would have to install Decisions again to register the new database.
