Will the version 8 container support be for ECS, as the current version 7 implementation. Or will it support other setups, like kubernetes?

Yes, you will be able to use tools to orchestrate multiple containers such as EKS or other implementations of Kubernetes. Decisions is providing the containerized application so anything past that will be up to you!
